Delaware four-star wideout Jahsiear Rogers, flips commitment from Penn State to Oklahoma

Brent Venables picked up a major commitment in the 2026 recruiting class on Monday. Four-star wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers flipped his commitment from Penn State to Oklahoma.

Rogers is a 5-foot-11, 180-pound speedster from Middletown, DE. He attended Appoquinimink High School. This season Rogers has 19 catches through five games during his senior campaign, and has produced 440 receiving yards — an average of 23.2 yards per catch — while scoring six touchdowns.

In the 247Sports Composite rankings, Rogers is listed as a four-star prospect and the No. 52-ranked wide receiver in the 2026 recruiting class.

He announced his commitment to Oklahoma on a live broadcast via Rivals’ YouTube channel. When asked why he flipped to the Sooners, Rogers told Rivals' Steve Wiltfong, “Oklahoma is just a place built for football players.”

Rogers added, “Just the rich history they got of putting great receivers in the league and just the program and coaching staff. It’s a family atmosphere over there.”

Much has been made about the Sooners taking advantage of their marquee SEC home matchups to host recruiting visits for their biggest targets. It would appear that Venables’ staff capitalized on the opportunity this past weekend, as Rogers visited Norman to see the Sooners’ 34-26 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels.

The atmosphere at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium caught Rogers’ attention when he was asked about his impressions of the school on his visit saying, “Just the rich history they got of putting great receivers in the league and just the program and coaching staff,” Rogers explained. “It’s a family atmosphere over there.”

Rogers originally committed to Penn State in July 2024, after taking several visits to the university. However, he decommitted from the Nittany Lions after the recent firing of James Franklin as the team’s head coach.

Outside of Oklahoma and Penn State, Rogers had offers from Alabama, Nebraska, Indiana, North Carolina, Syracuse, Wake Forest, James Madison, Robert Morris, and Temple.

Rogers received the offer from Alabama back on October 16, and announced he was taking a visit to Tuscaloosa for the Crimson Tide’s home matchup against LSU on November 8. So far, there is no indication that Rogers is going to cancel his visit to Alabama, after giving a verbal commitment to Oklahoma.

While much has been made about the Sooners having the No. 1 class in 2027, they still have plenty of work to do on the 2026 class with Early Signing Day quickly approaching on December 3. Currently, Oklahoma has the No. 18 overall class for 2026, according to 24/7 Sports. The group does not include a five-star commit, but does feature 11 four-stars and 11 three-star commits.
