Oklahoma State Men’s Basketball Coach Steve Lutz, enters year two with high hopes for further success. Lutz took over last year for former head coach, Mike Boynton Jr, who coached the team from 2017 to 2024. Lutz was previously the head coach at Western Kentucky and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and has a career record of 85-53. He led TAMU-CC to the NCAA Tournament twice and WKU to the NCAA Tournament once.
2024-2025 Season Recap:
17-18, 7-13 in Big 12, tied for 12th place. Lost in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament to Cincinnati. Reached the quarterfinals of the NIT before losing to North Texas.

Projected starters:

G Jaylen Curry: UMass transfer who averaged over 13 points per game.
G Isaiah Coleman: Seton Hall transfer who averaged almost 16 points per game.
F ParSa Fallah: former Oregon State big man who could make a real impact down low for the Pokes.
F Robert Jennings II: returning Oklahoma State player who could continue to start for the Cowboys.
Games to Circle:
Nov 3rd – Oral Roberts:
ORU travels to Stillwater for an early season matchup against the Pokes. Oklahoma State has lost this in state matchup in the past. If the Pokes want to make a statement this year, they can not afford to lose to the likes of the ORU Golden Eagles.
Nov 9th – Texas A&M:
Oklahoma State has already defeated SEC opponent Auburn in an exhibition game. It would bode well for their spirits to continue on with a win against the Aggies.
Dec 13 – Bedlam – VS OU:
The Sooners and Cowboys are no longer conference foes, but each matchup after conference realignment is still just as important. Oklahoma State should have this game circled several times over.
Feb 18 – Kansas:
Oklahoma State will host the Jayhawks, in Stillwater, on February 18th, 2026. If Oklahoma State wants to remain competitive in the Big 12, this will be a game they will want to steal from one of the best in the Big 12.
March 7 – Houston:
Oklahoma State will host Houston on March 7, 2026, in what will be their last regular season game. If Oklahoma State wants to build their resume for the Big Dance, they will need a great performance against a team that made the Final Four last season.
Prediction:
The Big 12, as a basketball conference, is a lot tougher than as a football entity. Oklahoma State has a lot higher expectations than in Steve Lutz first year. Lutz was very active in the transfer portal and got a handful of true scoring commits. I believe that will make the difference for the Cowboys this year on the hardwood. I fully expect the Oklahoma State Men’s Basketball team to make the jump and end up dancing by the time March rolls around.
