Emerging star Nahshon Wright thrives in Chicago, showcasing talent amidst injuries and expressing a strong desire to extend his stay with the Bears.

Nahshon Wright could not have landed with the Chicago Bears at a better time than 2025.

Kyler Gordon and Jaylon Johnson have dealt with long-term injuries this season, but Wright has been very solid with both of them out.

Gordon has missed time due to hamstring, calf, and groin injuries. At the same time, Johnson was recently activated off the injured reserve because of a groin injury ahead of the Philadelphia Eagles game in Week 13.

Unfortunately for Gordon, his stint off IR didn't last long, as he suffered a groin injury during pregame warmups in Week 14.

It's a good thing Wright has had the kind of season he has. Wright has accounted for five interceptions, 56 total tackles, three TFLs, three fumble recoveries and one forced fumble.

The only problem is that he is on a one-year deal with Chicago, worth $1.1 million according to Spotrac. Wright appeared on "670 The Score" to talk about his future and whether he wants to stay with the Bears.

Wright stated that he would love to stay in Chicago and has discussed it with his agent. However, the Bears have not gotten back to him.

"Me and my agent have spoken about it and what it could look like, but no, we haven't heard anything from Chicago," Wright said. "I mean, we've talked about it, and I told them that I would like to be here, obviously, due to the fact that they believed in me, and I have Al here, DA [Dennis Allen], who's a great defensive coordinator, Ben [Ben Johnson], who's doing a great job leading this team. So, me and my agent have definitely had dialogue about it, but we haven't heard anything yet."

While there hasn't been any feedback regarding a contract extension with Chicago, Wright revealed that he already has a good support system in place. He also shared that the connection with the franchise and city is very real.

"Yeah, I have quite a bit of family here," Wright said. "My god sister lives here, and some of her family, because her father's from Chicago, and one of my friends, who I went to junior college with, is from Harvey, Illinois, so his family's here, they come to every game. I wanna say they just purchased 11 tickets for me. I have a pretty good support group here that comes and supports and makes sure that I feel welcome. I'm always invited over for dinners, but they're just a little too far, but the love is definitely real here."

Wright was drafted out of Oregon State in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys. Before that, he attended junior college, playing for beloved head coach John Beam at Laney College. Beam passed away earlier this season ahead of the Vikings' game.

He played in Dallas for three seasons before spending 2024 with the Minnesota Vikings. His breakout season should be enough for Chicago to keep him around long-term.

Having a player like Wright around who actually loves being with the organization is great. His presence in the secondary has been extremely valuable, given the injuries that have occurred.

Wright and the Bears face the Cleveland Browns this Sunday at noon CT on Fox.
