Mahomes lit up the Lions with four total touchdowns, earning Player of the Week. He continues to dominate, leading the Chiefs offense.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has earned AFC Player of the Week honors for his dominant outing against the Detroit Lions in Week 6. Mahomes led the Chiefs to a 30-17 victory against one of the powerhouses of the NFC with his 289-yard, four-touchdown performance.

Mahomes completed 22 of 30 throws for 257 yards and three touchdowns on Sunday night against the Lions' defense. He also rushed ten times for an additional 32 yards and a score, scoring all four touchdowns for the Chiefs in Week 6.

It isn’t the first for Mahomes in 2025, as he received the award back in Week 4, making it his second in just three weeks. The two-time MVP winner is having an impressive 2025 season, willing a Kansas City offense that has had no shortage of obstacles to wins when it seems unlikely.

With the win against Detroit, the Chiefs are back at .500 with a record of 3-3. Now, Mahomes and the Chiefs trail the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos by just one game for the AFC West lead.

The 30-year-old now has the sixth most passing yards in the NFL through six weeks with 1,514 yards. He’s also tied for fifth in the league for the most passing touchdowns with 11 compared to just two interceptions. When factoring in his rushing touchdowns, Mahomes has scored 15 times this season.

Everybody knows how good Mahones is when throwing the ball, but he has continued to be vital for a Kansas City rushing game that hasn’t been great this season. Through the first six weeks, the quarterback leads the team in both rushing yards and touchdowns.

Mahomes’ impact cannot be understated, and it clearly hasn’t gone unnoticed after being named Player of the Week for the 12th time in his nine-year career. He’ll look to build on his award-winning performance against the division rival Las Vegas Raiders in Week 7. It should provide another opportunity for Mahomes and the Chiefs to prove they are still the contenders that football fans have come to expect. Kick off is set for 1 p.m. EST on Sunday.
