The NHL team the New York Islanders have announced a multi-year partnership with the NFT company Orange Comet. Orange Comet will create and sell NFTs on its marketplace using the Avalanche blockchain.

The partnership officially starts later next week beginning with limited edition NFTs dropping on Nov. 20. The drop will line up with the Islanders game against the Calgary Flames in the UBS Arena.
The collection will be comprised of NFTs made up of four different designs. Several of the NFTs will feature unique experiences for fans and may even have real-world items.

The first 1,000 fans that pre-register for the NFT drop will be given a limited-edition goalie mask NFT created by Orange Comet.
The founder and President of Orange Comet, Dave Broome, said that he has witnessed the history and legacy of the Islanders during his time at Hofstra University.
"Attending Hofstra University and working for the Islanders as a college student, I witnessed the incredible legacy of this storied franchise," said Broome. "As it comes full circle for me, we at Orange Comet could not be more thrilled to bring our creative, dynamic visual NFT designs to the forefront of a world-class organization like the New York Islanders."
The Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships for the Islanders, Bryan Calka, said that Orange Comet is a leader in the NFT space and that the team is excited to leverage NFTs to engage with fans.
"Orange Comet is at the forefront of the development of NFTs," said Calka. "The New York Islanders are excited to be partnering with the leaders in the NFT business and look forward to our fans engaging with us in a whole new way."
