Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has opened up on a former New York Giants teammate.

Saquon Barkley's six-year run with the New York Giants to begin his NFL career honestly feels like a distant memory now that he has already won a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles, but Barkley obviously still has some strong feelings about his former teammates.

The three-time Pro Bowler was specifically asked about quarterback Daniel Jones, who is now playing some terrific football for the Indianapolis Colts. Barkley certainly hide his emotions when talking discussing his friend.

"Outside of the Philadelphia Eagles and myself, I want no one else to perform at a high level (more than) Daniel Jones," Barkley said, via Zach Berman of Athletic. "The fact that he's off to a hot start... to go out there now and play at a high level and get to show people the player that I know and the person I know. I'm a big believer in anything, it might not happen in football, but the way he carries himself and the way he works and the way he competes, it's going to show at some point."

Jones spent six seasons with the Giants between 2019 and 2024 before being released during the latter stages of his final campaign in New York. He showed flashes in the Big Apple, but was never able to do it consistently.

Well, the former first-round pick is now an early-season MVP candidate in Indianapolis, having led the Colts to a 2-0 record while throwing for 588 yards and a couple of touchdowns. He is completing 71.4 percent of his passes and has also punched three rushing scores.

Obviously, we are only weeks into the 2025 campaign, but perhaps Jones will be able to find some success in Indy now that he has a better supporting cast around him.

Meanwhile, Barkley led the NFL with 2,005 yards rushing yards to go along with 13 touchdowns on 5.8 yards per carry during his debut season in Philadelphia last year. He has toted the ball 40 times for 148 yards and a score through his first two games in 2025.

The Eagles will face the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday while Jones and the Colts will battle the Tennessee Titans.
