The Philadelphia Eagles looked left for dead against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon, having fallen behind 26-7 in the third quarter as their offense continued to labor.
But then, something clicked, and the Eagles rattled off 26 unanswered points — capped by a blocked field goal that Jordan Davis returned for a touchdown — in a stunning 33-26 victory.
Philadelphia suddenly remembered how to move the football in the second half, and wide receiver A.J. Brown thinks that Philly's newfound offensive success boils down to one factor.
“I don’t mean this in a negative way, but I just got the ball,” Brown said, via Zach Berman of The Athletic. “I think it’s that simple.”

That's something that absolutely did not happen over the first couple of games, when Brown amassed a grand total of six catches for 35 yards. But the script flipped in Week 3, with the three-time Pro Bowler notching six grabs for 109 yards and a touchdown. Obviously, it worked.
“Me, personally, I truly believe we got so many good players on this team,” added Brown. “And at times, you can feel like we’re being conservative. And I don’t think it should be like that. I think it should be, let your killers do their thing and play fast and play aggressive. … Not saying that we haven’t been. But me, personally, that’s what I would like.”
The Eagles' offense struggled in Weeks 1 and 2, which may be in large part due to the fact that the team changed offensive coordinators during the offseason. Kellen Moore departed to take the New Orleans Saints' head-coaching job, leaving Philadelphia to promote passing game coordinator Kevin Patullo to the role of primary offensive play-caller.
Perhaps Patullo finally found the secret sauce against the Rams, and maybe it really was as simple as ensuring that Brown got more touches.
It wasn't just Brown, either. DeVonta Smith also had a big game, snaring eight receptions for 60 yards and a score after having recorded seven catches for 69 yards over Philadelphia's first two games combined.
Maybe Philly has finally unlocked something offensively as it prepares to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a showdown between two 3-0 teams next weekend.
