While the talk of the trade deadline will be about who the Philadelphia Eagles add, it also sounds like the organization could go out and move a few players.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, he expects the Eagles to go out and add a pass rusher, also noting that the team has an obvious need at the cornerback position. They accomplished the cornerback spot on Wednesday in a deal for Michael Carter II.
"Adding, subtracting or sitting it out? In position to add," Fowler wrote. "Several teams I've talked to expect Philadelphia to explore cornerback and pass-rush options. Re-signing Brandon Graham last week eases the need at pass rush, but the Eagles probably will need an extra player down the stretch. The expectation is Philly will not trade A.J. Brown."
Regarding what the Eagles might do in terms of trading a player, Tim McManus of ESPN noted that AJ Dillon could be available. He wrote that due to Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby doing what they've needed to do, it makes the veteran Dillon available.
However, considering how old Dillon is and likely not being a starter anywhere in the NFL, the Eagles shouldn't expect to get much in return.
“Running back AJ Dillon. No, not Brown -- he's not expected to be going anywhere despite heavy speculation and occasional cryptic social media posts. The other AJ makes some sense, though. Tank Bigsby's emergence in recent weeks (he rushed for over 100 yards against the Giants after Philly traded for him in September) has pushed Dillon down to fourth on the depth chart behind Saquon Barkley, Bigsby and Will Shipley. Dillon has been solid for Philadelphia this season, but there's not much of a role for him currently,” he wrote.
It's more important for Philadelphia to focus on what it can bring in rather than who it might move, as the front office might just make a trade to make one and get a draft pick or two back.
Regarding some key edge rushers, there are expected to be many available, mainly on the Miami Dolphins front with Jaelen Phillips and Bradley Chubb.
If the Eagles could walk away with either of those players, or perhaps throw their hat in the ring for someone like Maxx Crosby, this will be a season that Philadelphia looks to be the best team in the NFL once again.
