We can say a lot about Jalen Hurts as a quarterback, but we also have to recognize the positives that he brings to the Philadelphia Eagles' offense.
To put things as plainly as possible, while Hurts might not be a top 10 quarterback in the NFL, arguably, there's also reason to believe that he could be just as good as anybody on any given Sunday because of his ability to simply win games.
It's been evident that the Eagles and some of the players on the roster haven't been too happy with the offense. Even Hurts, for that matter, has to realize that the offense has looked better in the past.
While the frustration is real and has to be factored in, head coach Nick Sirianni spoke about his level of frustration and how he feels.
"I'm not frustrated with him," Sirianni said on 94WIP Sports. "He goes out there and does his job each week and does a great job of putting us in position to win games. That's the name of the game. You know, particularly, for the quarterback. What are you doing to help your team win football games? And two, he finds a way to help us win. I love his attention to detail. I love his leadership. I love, just his mindset that I'm going to do everything that I can do to win this this game. Sometimes, that means handing it off, sometimes that means me running it, sometimes that means me throwing it. He does a great job of leading this football team.
"I mean, when you touch the ball every single play. When you touch that ball every single play, everything is in your hands and you directly win and lose football games at the quarterback position...He's just done such a good job of leading.”
While I understand that Sirianni would never come out and try to throw his quarterback under the bus, all of what he said is fair.
Of course, the Eagles want to be better offensively, but Hurts does what he's asked to do, and that's all a coach can ask for at the end of the day.
