Failed State Jukebox: 'Watch Out for Martial Law' by Carl Klang

A classic anti-police anthem from the Jimmy Buffet of the militia movement

If you listened to right-wing shortwave radio or attended gun shows in the 1990s, this album was inescapable. Independently released by Idaho's Carl Klang, the highlight of Watch Out for Martial Law was the title track, featuring a laid-back groove that wouldn't be out-of-place in Margaritaville. This is a song with a message: Beware of your local police officer, "a vain, reckless coward" who is probably working for the United Nations or Interpol.

It doesn't quite have the gravitas of "Fuck the Police," but perhaps that's the point.
