Los Angeles: Three people were shot Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at approximately 10:25 p.m. in the Pico-Union neighborhood of Central Los Angeles. The shooting occurred near the intersection of Union Avenue and 17th Street. 

Three males, 25-30 years of age, were in front of the location when an unknown suspect approached, firing multiple shots striking all three victims, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

One victim was transported to a local area hospital by the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics in grave condition with CPR in progress at the time of the incident. LAPD has confirmed that victim has succumbed to the injuries. The second victim was transported with a gunshot wound to the eye and is reported to be in stable condition. The third victim self-transported to a local area hospital and is in stable condition, according to LAPD. 

Los Angeles Police Department Rampart Division is handling the investigation. Suspects were last seen running toward Venice Boulevard and out of view at the time of the incident. 

The incident is gang related, according to LAPD.
