Hawthorne: Around 3:38 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2021, California Highway Patrol received a call of a solo vehicle spin-out on the 405 North at West Imperial Highway. The vehicle ended up in the #4 lane facing in a westbound direction. Upon arrival, officers saw that a pick-up truck had collided into the vehicle in the #4 lane, overturned in the middle of the freeway, and sent the Mustang into the right side of the freeway. 

The male victim in the Mustang was trapped inside the vehicle and declared dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department, according to CHP Officer Del Rosario interviewed at the scene by Key News. CHP is currently investigating the cause of the crash and believes alcohol may be a factor. There was a Sig Alert on the 405 North at Imperial Highway with the 405 Freeway closed for an unknown period of time.
