Malibu: Around 12:45 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2021, the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to a brush fire in the hills just off Pacific Coast Highway and Tuna Canyon Road. LACoFD is working with air and ground resources to extinguish the fire in steep, rugged terrain. At 2:00 a.m., the fire was at three acres with a potential of 50 if it gets to the ridge. The fire is burning approximately one mile up Tuna Canyon Road from PCH on the east side of the road, according to LACoFD.

Around 10:15 a.m., LACoFD reported that the fire currently stands at approximately six acres with more than 50% containment. The department acknowledged the extraordinary performance of LACO Fire Air Ops, the Firehawk helicopter and the Coulson Chinook CH-47 on the fire.
