Firefighters Contain "Jake Fire" at 4.5 Acres in Santa Clarita
Firefighters stopped the forward progress of the Jake Fire late afternoon Thursday at Valle Del Oro and Newhall Avenue.
Santa Clarita: A brush fire was reported around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, near the intersection of Valle Del Oro and Newhall Avenue. Los Angeles County Fire Department crews arrived at the location and reported the fire (dubbed Jake Fire) to be 1/4 acre running uphill in light fuel.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station reported road closures in the area at Valle Del Oro, between Dockweiler Drive and Newhall Avenue. The fire had spread to 1 1/2 acres becoming a 2nd Alarm fire. The Sheriff's Station made calls for evacuation of nearby structures on Grape Lily Circle and Valle Del Oro.
At 5:10 p.m., the Sheriff's Station reported that forward progress of the Jake Fire had been stopped at 4 1/2 acres.
