Los Angeles: California Highway Patrol responded to a shooting call on the Northbound 101 Freeway near the Santa Monica Boulevard exit around 1:54 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021. Upon arrival, officers discovered it was a car to car shooting where a dark SUV possibly fired multiple rounds at a Chevrolet pick-up truck with a 38-year-old driver and 25 year-old passenger, according to Sergeant Jeff Lane with the CHP Central Los Angeles area office at the scene of the incident.

As a result of the shooting, the driver of the pick-up truck sustained a leg injury and then subsequently collided with the center divider wall. He was transported to Cedars-Sinai Hospital with moderate injuries, said Sergeant Lane. The passenger suffered minor injuries and walked off the freeway on his own. Sergeant Lane said it looks to be an isolated incident.
