Mechanic Crushed Underneath Sheriff's Department Bus, Dies During Transport to Hospital
A subcontractor mechanic for the L.A. County Sheriff-Men's Central Jail yard facility succumbed to injuries from a Sheriff's Department bus that lost air to the hydraulics and lowered onto the victim as he was working underneath the bus.
Los Angeles: A subcontractor for the Los Angeles County Sheriff-Men's Central Jail yard facility was crushed by a Sheriff's Department bus he was working underneath at around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, 2021.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the jail yard facility location on the 400 block of East Bauchet Street and located the victim. For unknown reasons, the bus the subcontractor was working on lost air to the suspension system and lowered as he was working underneath the bus. People rushed over to try and free him.
The Los Angeles Fire Department transported the injured male to USCMC, but he was declared deceased upon arrival. The incident is under investigation.
