Sun Valley: The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a structure fire just after 6:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2021, on the 8800 block of North Ilex Avenue. Crews arrived to find a one-story, single family dwelling with heavy fire showing and multiple buildings exposed with at least one direct fire impingement, according to LAFD.
The primary unit sustained heavy fire damage which extended into the attic. Exposed buildings, including one that was a converted garage, were damaged on at least two sides of the structure. Fire was observed spreading up a power pole and creeping across cable lines at the alley side of the fire. A carport that backs up to the alley completely burned along with a vehicle.
LAFD reported that 76 firefighters achieved knockdown of the bulk of the fire in 50 minutes. Firefighters remained on the scene to ensure all pockets of fire are fully extinguished. No injuries were reported. Cause and financial loss will be determined.
