Van Nuys: A vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant injuring one person around 10:21 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21, on the 5200 block of North Van Nuys Boulevard. The Los Angeles Fire Department and Los Angeles Police Department officers blocked traffic on Van Nuys Boulevard southbound during the incident. Firefighters assisted the injured occupant from the vehicle as water flooded the street and gushed approximately 100 feet into the air from a high pressure hydrant. The injured person was transported with unknown injuries to a local hospital by LAFD paramedics. The Department of Water and Power arrived at the scene to help shut off the hydrant.
