Tukwila, WA: Just after 5 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, Tukwila Fire responded to a reported apartment fire at the Maple Crest Apartments. First crews on the scene started a defensive attack of the building and a second alarm was requested for additional resources. 

When crews arrived from the second alarm, they attempted to fight the flames from inside the building. Within minutes, firefighters reported the structure was not safe and backed out of the building requesting a third alarm. 

Fire officials confirmed there was at least one rescue and several injuries but their conditions are unknown at this time. Officials also stated that a full sweep of the building was not completed before they had to back out. The building has 32 units and 31 of them were occupied.
