The Interview: NFTS, Creators, and the Rise of Active Fan Communities

Relationships between content creators and fan communities will be marked by a new dynamism in a Web3 world.

Jordan Fried, the founder of, has his eyes on transformative potential of Web3 for art, technology and beyond. He joined Roundtable at the BattleFin conference in Miami to talk about his vision for NFTs and the paradigm shift they’re bringing. In this segment, Fried explains how Web3 will change the relationship between creators and their platforms.

"You have to unlearn a lot of stuff that Web2 tried to teach us, which is build a product, get market fit, commercialize, find a way to require users and then figure out a way to make money from those users," explains Fried.

Instead of creating a product that then attracts users, he argues, the new paradigm is more organic and more participatory.

"It really is an internet of ownership," he continues. "We'll see creators come out of communities in ways that are new."
