The Roundtable: Transphobia and Identity Policing

Where is the line between transphobia and personal preference?

A panel of experts joined Roundtable to discuss the Mar-a-Lago raid, gun policy, free speech and other current issues. In this segment, they analyze ongoing controversies about transgender representation in media.

Niko House argues that accusations of transphobia are overgeneralized, particularly in discussions about dating trans people.

"There is a power dynamic issue that needs to be discussed. What if I don't want to date a trans person, or if I don't want a date to bisexual woman?" he says.

"There are people who are okay with it. There are people who are not okay with that. So does that make them homophobic or is it just mean you have your personal preference?"

"It's easier to create more infighting when you can split people up into more groups," he adds.
