Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love had a brilliant 2025 season and the recognition for his outstanding play continues to mount. Love was named to five first-team All-America lists today as he continues to pile up postseason honors.
Love was named a first-team All-American by USA TODAY Sports, Sports Illustrated, CBS Sports, Pro Football Focus and Bleacher Report. The five All-America lists that determine Unanimous and Consensus honors, but Love is expected to dominate those lists as well.
"The Irish may have been left out of the playoff field, but it wasn’t the fault of Love, who was phenomenal once again between the tackles in ripping off long run after long run," wrote Bryan Fischer and Pat Forde of Sports Illustrated. "He finished the season with a whopping 6.89 yards per carry despite facing a constant stream of stacked boxes and managed to find the end zone 21 times."
Love had a historic season for the Irish. His 1,372 rushing yards ranked fourth in the country this season and was the fourth best single-season mark in Notre Dame history. Love had just 199 carries, which is at least 53 fewer than the backs who rank above him in the single-season list. His 18 rushing touchdowns tied the previous school record that was set by Audric Estime two seasons ago and it ranked third in college football. Love's 21 total touchdowns ranks 2nd in the country and was a new Notre Dame program record. His 1,652 yards from scrimmage (rushing and receiving) was third nationally this season and was the third best in Notre Dame history.
The biggest game of the season for Love was his 228 yards in a 34-24 win over USC. That total set a new record in a game playing inside Notre Dame Stadium. Love has likely played his last game for Notre Dame and if he does he'll end his career with 42 total touchdowns, which is the third most in program history. Love has only played three seasons at Notre Dame while the two players above him played four seasons.
Earlier today, Love was also named the recipient of the 2025 Disney Spirit Award. This honors the most inspirational figure in college football. Love certainly inspires onlookers with his brilliant play, but this honor goes far beyond what he does on the field. His character off the field, his unique personality, broad interests and involvement in the community are all things that stand out about Love.
On Saturday, Love will be in New York City as one of the four Heisman Trophy finalists. He's also a finalist for the Doak Walker Award, the Maxwell Award and the Walter Camp Player of the Year.
