The Green Bay Packers have a major issue that could ruin their chances of contending for a Super Bowl this season.

Heading into the 2025 NFL campaign, the Green Bay Packers were viewed as top-tier Super Bowl contenders following the acquisition of Micah Parsons, and over the first couple of weeks, they played the part well, routing the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders.

However, over the last two games, the Packers have not looked quite the same, losing to the Cleveland Browns and surrendering 40 points in an overtime tie against the Dallas Cowboys.

So, what exactly is the problem for Green Bay? Well, it could be more than one thing, but Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon has specifically zeroed in on injuries in the trenches, and on both sides of the ball.

"Green Bay has been without right tackle Zach Tom (oblique) and guard Aaron Banks (groin), and now defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt is expected to miss time with a knee injury," Gagnon wrote. "Wyatt's absence made a big impact as the Cowboys tore apart a usually stellar Packers defense on Sunday night."

The good news is that the Packers have a bye this week, so their injured players will get some time to rest. Perhaps that will at least allow Banks and Wyatt to get back on the field, although Tom is much more concerning.

Green Bay's offensive line appeared to be a major strength going into the season, but it's hard to maintain that when some of your top players along the unit are sidelined.

Defensively, though, the Packers had more issues against the Cowboys than just Wyatt's absence. The secondary was absolutely shredded by Dak Prescott, and let's be honest: the cornerback position was the one weakness everyone knew Green Bay had on the defensive side of the ball.

It will be interesting to see if the typically conservative Packers make any moves to address their holes between now and the trade deadline, but the fact that they just surrendered a pair of first-round picks for Parsons probably makes it much less likely that that occurs.

Green Bay is 2-1-1 and will face the Joe Burrow-less Cincinnati Bengals following the bye week.
