The Green Bay Packers have lost two straight games with back-to-back abysmal performances from the offense.
The Packers' offense only managed 13 points against the Carolina Panthers and seven points against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Head coach Matt LaFleur's playcalling has been questionable, as the offense has been inconsistent throughout the season.
It has been a disappointing season for the offense, which boasts a ton of talent. Quarterback Jordan Love has played at a high level and was an MVP candidate before their last two games. They also have a talented running back in Josh Jacobs, along with a receiver core of Matthew Golden, Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, and more.
Despite all of this talent, the offense has failed to perform at a high level consistently.
This has led to many calling for LaFleur to relinquish his playcalling duties, which could open up the opportunity for Green Bay to bring in a new playcaller.
The New York Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll as their head coach this week, giving the Packers a candidate as their next playcaller.
Daboll had success in his first season as the Giants' head coach, winning Coach of the Year honors and leading the team to the playoffs. He also had success during his time as the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills.
Bringing him in as an offensive coordinator could be beneficial for the Packers. However, it's unlikely that Green Bay will make as drastic a move midseason, especially since they are trying to compete for a Super Bowl.
That doesn't mean they can't bring in Daboll in some capacity this season. In the 2024 season, the Packers brought in Robert Saleh in a consultant role after he was fired as the New York Jets head coach. Similarly, Green Bay brought in former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett as a consultant for their defense this offseason.
The Packers have a talented roster and should be a contender this season. However, with their recent play and the lackluster playcalling, they are narrowly holding on to a playoff spot.
Green Bay should consider bringing in Daboll in a consultant role this season and consider moving him into the playcalling role next season.
