DeFi inventor unveils revolutionary Web3 Media Platform: Roundtable (RTB)
May 30, 2024
AUSTIN, TEXAS – Web3 visionary and DeFi Inventor Eyal Hertzog, who founded Bancor and architected the first automated market maker (AMM), and digital media pioneer and Roundtable CEO James Heckman have teamed up to launch the first full-featured, major-media, enterprise-level Web3 platform - Roundtable (RTB.io). After four years of development, the platform is now live on the web and on iOS and Android App Stores, hosting top industry brands, and was unveiled today at Consensus ‘24 in Austin.
“I’ve spent my entire career focused on democratizing and decentralizing media and finance,” said Hertzog, “and we’re proud to launch our first Web3 integration with the top voices in crypto, in partnership with legendary brand TheStreet, the web’s first large scale financial publication.”

The Challenge
Until now, Web3 media platforms have been unable to meet the complex needs of major media and professional brands, and have failed to provide the modern, user-friendly tools and features that consumers demand. Web2 social platforms, while useful for audience growth, are not designed to operate within brands and remain external assets outside the control of content creators.
Roundtable’s breakthrough enterprise technology is a pivotal moment in publishing history. RTB empowers professional creators to reclaim the promise of decentralized, meritocracy-driven media and to recapture and reunite their loyal audiences, long co-opted by Web2 monopolists.
State of Web2
“Today’s centralized collusive media ecosystem is designed to extract core value and control from independent creators through censorship, deplatforming, predatory monetization strategies, throttling virality and confiscating audience data and brand value,” said Roundtable CEO, James Heckman, “RTB’s vision for professional media centers on collaborative engagement, fueled by market principles.”
The RTB platform enables independent media brands and creators to distribute, monetize, and engage with their communities within their own brand, data, and voice.
RTB Technology is True Convergence
RTB does not compete with or replace social media; instead it provides enterprise-level community immersion within a media brand, and provides a white-label, brand-specific app and service to fully vetted, invite-only partners. Partners share distribution, large-scale monetization and a crypto-reward token, incentivizing content creators and community leaders to nurture and grow brand-specific communities.
Product Vision
Roundtable’s ambitious vision fulfills the dream of uniting premium brands on a single Web3 SaaS (Software as a Service) platform. The resulting architecture offers an array of features, tools, social incentives, and distribution assets, which are already installed by big scale media partners like TheStreet, and prominent Blockchain thought leaders such as Mario Nawfal, Scott Melker, Aaron and Austin Arnold, George Tung and Bitcoin Magazine. The blockchain backbone is censorship-proof, and protects publishers from deplatforming, secures data in perpetuity, guarantees ownership of the audience and ensures fair compensation based on authentic engagement. The RTB ecosystem is designed to withstand societal challenges, such as a government information lockdown and censorship.
RTB Empowers and Rewards Human Genius
Stress-tested by a decentralized marketplace of content and audience, and Web3 transparency, RTB is offered at no operational cost to serious content creators and media brands. It includes already-installed cash revenue feeds and token rewards for publishers and their top audience contributors.
RTB’s Secret Sauce
The secret sauce of RTB lies in its comprehensive approach: no single feature, partnership, or technology stack can deliver what the world needs now. Unlike Web2 platforms, each community requires a dedicated business owner to nurture and protect the experience for their followers. RTB is purpose-built not for click-bait chaos, but to facilitate harmony and curate a united “roundtable” of inspired thought leaders, authentic brands, and voices, all accountable to their constituents, who’s aligned interests ensure positive contribution within their community.
Our technology, business model, experience and ability to unify coalitions on one grand marketplace, make this all possible. We believe the dream of a true Web3 content model is fulfilled with the RTB platform, and our journey to facilitate and empower free voices has just begun.
Visionary Leadership
RTB co-founder Eyal Hertzog co-founded Bancor and created the original DeFi protocol, Automated Market Making (AMM), and the constant product formula (x*y=k). He also invented the first social video network and platform, MetaCafe, and the revolutionary video rank algorithm. RTB co-founder James Heckman created the first social network and blogging network, Rivals.com, founded the first network subscription platform, Scout.com, and architected the first social ad model while at Myspace. He also led the team that built Hulu’s business model as Strategy Chief for Fox, founded the largest major-media ad platform, which included Yahoo!, AOL, and MSN, and created the largest full-stack publishing platform at Arena (NYSE). Hertzog and Heckman’s teams began collaboration and co-development in 2021.
