New Orleans Saints' running back Alvin Kamara is a hot commodity as the NFL's November 4th trade deadline approaches.
This shouldn't be much of a surprise for Saints fans. Other franchises are likely hoping to capitalize on a 1-4 start to the season by a New Orleans franchise that is in the midst of a total rebuild. Naturally, Kamara comes to mind as a player that the Saints might be willing to part with for a few rising stars or draft picks.
The star running back has been with the Black and Gold since being selected by in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Tennessee, and he's put up big numbers since then. Kamara has rushed for 7,062 yards and 61 touchdowns on 1,616 carries through this point in his career. Additionally, he has hauled in 590 catches for 4,839 yards and 25 touchdowns. Despite a slow start to the 2025 season, Kamara has remained the go-to guy in the backfield and, of course, is a major fan favorite.
Evidently, Kamara loves the Big Easy as much as it loves him. According to a report from NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the standout rusher has no plans to leave the Saints, despite other teams reaching out.
Reports say that Kamara approached New Orleans general manager Mickey Loomis and expressed his desire to remain with the franchise through the rest of his career. He is currently under contract through the 2026 season after signing an extension in October 2024. From there, who knows how long Kamara will look to remain in the league.
Of course, this doesn't mean that Loomis has to turn down any trade offers that other teams might make for Kamara, but you'd like to imagine that he respects the wishes of a player who has become the face of the franchise. It's equally refreshing to see just how much love Kamara has for the team that drafted him, especially as many players play for multiple teams in their careers. Black and Gold faithful certainly love him just as much.
Rapaport also shared that teams continue to reach out about other players. These include wide receiver Rashid Shaheed, linebacker Pete Werner, defensive end Carl Granderson and offensive lineman Dillon Radunz.
These next few weeks will be something to watch for New Orleans; who knows what the team could look like if certain deals are made. Regardless, all signs point to the Saints retaining their legendary running back.
