A bitter end for the 2025 Houston Astros, but the 2026 season will be here before you know it. The Astros may be watching the World Series from home this year, but it’s never too early to spot future talent. While the major league roster adjusts, one thing to watch closely is the minor league system.
Alonzo Tredwell:
Tredwell had a strong college career at UCLA from 2021 to 2023. He finished with a 2.83 ERA and 113 strikeouts across 92.1 innings. The Astros picked him in the second round of the 2023 MLB Draft, and he’s been making his mark ever since.
In 2025, Tredwell pitched for three different teams in the Astros system: the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Single-A), the Asheville Tourists (High-A), and the Corpus Christi Hooks (Double-A).
2025 Minor League Stats:
W: 5, L: 3, ERA: 3.69, G: 26, GS: 16, SV: 1, IP: 100.0, SO: 122, WHIP: 1.30
Career Minor League Stats:
W: 6, L: 9, ERA: 4.30, G: 43, GS: 30, SV: 1, IP: 157.0, SO: 189, WHIP: 1.41
Tredwell finished the 2025 season with 122 strikeouts in 100 innings across three levels. If he can bring that performance to the majors, this 6’8”, 23-year-old powerhouse could give the Astros a new weapon in the rotation or bullpen. With his fastball and developing off-speed pitches, Tredwell is a prospect to watch as Houston looks ahead to the 2026 season.
