The Blue Jays rallied from two runs down in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Houston Astros in a battle of division leaders on Tuesday night at Rogers Centre.

The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Houston Astros 4-3 on Tuesday night in a game with major October implications for both teams.

The 10-inning victory gave the Jays an 83-61 record and kept them two games up in the American League East, while the loss dropped Houston to 78-67 and has them at just one game ahead of the Seattle Mariners in the American League West.

The win was an epic one for Toronto, who trailed 3-1 in the bottom of the ninth inning when Isiah Kiner-Falefa tied it with a single off closer Bryan Abreu. The Jays won it in the bottom of the 10th on a walk-off fielders choice.

After the game, Kiner-Falefa delivered an awesome answer about what it means to be playing in Toronto for the second time in his career - and to be part of this push for the American League East title.

    Per Keegan Matheson of Sportsnet:

More from Isiah Kiner-Falefa after today's win, back with the #BlueJays once again: “This is why I signed in Toronto the first time. To get that opportunity to get the big hit, I’m just so happy to be back ... I’m thankful for this organization for being my biggest believer.”

    IKF's season at a glance

The 30-year-old utility player began the year with the Pittsburgh Pirates before being waived on Aug. 31 and acquired by the Blue Jays. He's hitting .264 with one home run and 39 RBIs, and he's also stolen 15 bases.

He's got a .300 on-base percentage and provides the Blue Jays lots of flexibility, as evidenced by his entering the game as a pinch-hitter on Tuesday.

    IKF's career at a glance

An eight-year veteran of the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, Pirates, and Blue Jays, Kiner-Falefa is a career .262 hitter. A good runner, he has exactly 100 stolen bases to his name. As mentioned above, he's always provided his team's versatility, as he can play second base, shortstop, third base or the outfield.

He won a Gold Glove for the Texas Rangers in the COVID 2020 season, playing mostly third base.

As he alluded to, he'd been with the Blue Jays before, playing 83 games for them in 2024 before being traded to Pittsburgh.
