The Toronto Blue Jays beat the New York Yankees 7-1 on Friday night at Yankee Stadium to move to 82-59 on the season.
With the win over New York, the Blue Jays now lead the American League East race by four games. They are attempting to win the division for the first time since 2015 and are also battling the Detroit Tigers for the top seed and homefield advantage in the American League playoffs.
Starting pitcher Kevin Gausman dominated on the mound, going eight innings and giving up just one run. He struck out five, lowering his season ERA to 3.63.
Offensively, the Jays were paced by Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who went 4-for-5 with a home run and three singles. He also tied former American League MVP Jose Canseco in some unique American League history, per @StatsCentre:
