Former St. Louis Cardinals players Matt Holliday, Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn are teaming up together to host a new Cardinals-themed show "Cardinals Territory."
While the show itself has existed since December of 2024, the group is taking over for Katie Woo of The Athletic, who had been the previous host. Jim Hayes will also team up with the former players.
A seven-time All-Star, Holliday spent 15 years in the big leagues with the Cardinals, Colorado Rockies, New York Yankees and Oakland Athletics. A lifetime .299 hitter, he blasted 316 home runs and drove in 1,220 runs. He was a four-time All-Star with the Cardinals and helped them win the World Series in 2011.
He's a member of the Cardinals Hall of Fame.
Also a former batting champion and a four-time Silver Slugger, Holliday led the Rockies to their only World Series appearance in 2007.
He's the father of current Baltimore Orioles infielder Jackson Holliday, who is one of the most highly-regarded young players in baseball.
A 13-year veteran of the Cardinals, Minnesota Twins, Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers, Lynn also spent seven years in St. Louis, helping them win the 2011 World Series. He was 143-99 lifetime with a 3.74 ERA, and he won 79 of those games with St. Louis over his seven seasons. A durable starter, he threw nearly 1,100 innings with St. Louis.
He was a two-time All-Star who stopped playing after 2024.
Another well-traveled pitcher, Gibson spent parts of 13 years in the big leagues with the Twins, Orioles, Rangers, Cardinals and Philadelphia Phillies. He was only with the Cardinals for one season (2024), going 8-8 with a 4.24 ERA in 30 starts.
He was a one-time All-Star who helped the Phillies reach the World Series in 2022, winning 112 games in total.
The Cardinals are coming off a fourth-place finish in the National League Central and they appear headed for a rebuild that could last multiple seasons. They are widely expected to trade away Nolan Arenado and Sonny Gray this offseason, and they could listen to offers on Alec Burleson and Brendan Donovan. Burleson just won his first career Silver Slugger on Thursday night.
Chaim Bloom is now the head of the front office. He previously worked for the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox, and he helped Boston get to the American League Championship Series in 2021.
