The Cleveland Guardians will face off against the Detroit Tigers in the 2025 MLB Wild Card series.

After a historic run to punch their ticket to the 2025 MLB playoffs and complete a historic comeback to win the American League Central division just a day later, the Cleveland Guardians are ready for the postseason.

The field is set, and the game times have been assigned. We’re about to get an epic rematch of the 2024 ALDS, which took five close games to decide.

Since Cleveland won on Sunday, and the Boston Red Sox defeated the Detroit Tigers, the Guardians (No. 3 seed) will face the Detroit Tigers (No. 6 seed) in the Wild Card Round.

Cleveland will be hosting the best-of-three series at Progressive Field.

The first pitch times for Games 1 and Game 2, and Game 3 if necessary, will be at 1:08 PM EST. Fans can watch the two division rivals battle with one another on ESPN for all games in the Wild Card series.

Of course, this will be the third consecutive week that the Guardians and Tigers will face off against each other. The two teams have seen each other six times in the last 13 calendar days.

In those matchups, the Guardians are 5-1 against Detroit. In the season series, Cleveland won eight of their 13 matchups and outscored the Tigers 46-34.

Clearly, the Guardians have had plenty of success against their division rival this year, but when the playoffs begin, everything gets reset to zero.

Now, the focus shifts to the matchups and potential rotations each team could use throughout the series.

Tarik Skubal will more than likely be Detroit's starter for Game 1, while Gavin Williams or Tanner Bibee are in line to start the series opener for the Guardians.

The Guardians completed a historic comeback and eliminated Detroit in last year's playoffs, while the Tigers are seeking revenge for losing the division and their loss during last year's playoff run.

All of this is setting up what could be the most entertaining playoff matchups we’ll see in the Wild Card round.
