The Cleveland Guardians have one more series remaining in the 2025 MLB regular season.
Technically, the postseason doesn’t start until Tuesday.
That said, Cleveland’s three games against the Texas Rangers at Progressive Field this season will definitely have a playoff-type feel to them, because that’s exactly what they are.
If the Guardians win the three-game set, they extend their season. If they don’t, the organization will be looking ahead to 2026 come Monday.
Everything is on the line for the Guardians this weekend against the Rangers, and you couldn’t ask for anything else at this point in the season.
Even though the season is on the line for the Guardians, they’re still finding ways to block out all of the outside noise and not let the pressure get to them by taking everything one day at a time.
“We’re going to show up ready to work and ready to win. We’re not taking any different approach than any other day. It’s how we’ve been all year, and it’s how we’ll continue to be,” said Stephen Vogt on Thursday.
“We’ll just continue to make that choice. It’s a choice. It’s a choice to stay present. It’s a choice to take it one day at a time, and we choose to do that every day.”
This is a method that worked when the Guardians were 15.5 games back in the division, and it should work just as well with them tied atop the AL Central.
The one comforting thought for Cleveland is that they control their own destiny.
Even after the Detroit Tigers topped the Guardians in the series finale on Thursday evening, Cleveland is atop the American League Central by virtue of the tiebreaker.

If the Guardians win out, they’re division champs and will have home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. If they win at least two out of three games, they’re at a minimum in the postseason.
