Chase DeLauter could be an option for the Cleveland Guardians during the MLB Playoffs.

All season long, Cleveland Guardians fans have been begging and clamoring for the Cleveland Guardians front office to finally give Chase DeLauter, the organization’s No. 2-ranked prospect, a shot at the big league level.

Unfortunately, due to multiple injuries, DeLauter’s MLB debut has been delayed, which is a story that’s all too familiar for the 23-year-old.

The thing is, DeLauter is ready to face big-league pithing. The outfielder has succeeded at the plate at every level he’s played at, and now, his time might be upon us.

DeLauter made an appearance on Monday during Cleveland’s workout day. He’ll be on the taxi squad, and Stephen Vogt revealed that the team is seriously considering giving him a spot on the Wild Card roster.

“Yeah, we're talking through what we're going to do. We're still trying to figure out exactly what we want the roster to look like. There's a case to be made for both of them [DeLauter and Dom Nunez] to be active, so they're going to be here working out with us today, and we're going to finalize the roster.”

While DeLauter may developmentally be ready to make his MLB debut, there is a question about whether he’s simply ready to take at-bats at any level following his most recent injury.

The lefty hasn’t competed in a game on July 11 and underwent surgery to help heal a wrist injury he sustained after lingering soreness.

It’s not uncommon for a player to need time to readjust their timing to pitching, especially at the big-league level.

When DeLauter has been healthy this minor league season, he’s been one of the most impactful players in Cleveland’s minor league system.

In 34 games (126 at-bats), the 23-year-old recorded a .278/.383/.476 slash line with an OPS of .859, including eight doubles and five home runs.

If the Guardians do decide to activate DeLauter for the Wild Card series, it wouldn’t be surprising if the prospect ends up being one of Cleveland’s biggest x-factors against the Detroit Tigers, and possibly throughout the postseason.
