Let’s take a look at all the history Cleveland made early this week.
For as amazing and impressive as Vogt’s award is, Cleveland’s skipper also made some very impressive MLB history on Tuesday night, too.
Vogt is the first manager in the history of Major League Baseball to win Manager of the Year in his first two seasons as a big-league manager. The Guardians felt they were confident with the hire in November 2023, but now they can look back on that decision and confirm there was no doubt they’re
When it comes to winning the award in back-to-back seasons and maybe getting overlooked by teams in bigger markets, Vogt said, “I think that's just the nature of it, right? You know, when you look at the personnel that you have, we see we see it very differently than probably the outside world does. And we know how good we are, and we kind of like it when people count us out because we're going to come prove you wrong.”
“And you know, whether it was Tito, myself, the front office, and coaches, we're all in this together, and we're all in this to win in Cleveland, and our players know that,” continued the Guardians’ manager.

Heading into Tuesday night, the Guardians and their division rival, the Chicago White Sox, each had five Manager of the Year Awards in their franchise’s history, which was tied for the most in MLB. When Vogt’s name was officially announced, Cleveland overtook Chicago for sole possession of first place with six.
Eric Wedge won Manager of the Year in 2007. Terry Francona won the award in 2013, 2016, and 2022. Finally, Vogt’s recognition in 2024 and 2025 make up the other two.
Even though the Guardians may not have the best roster on paper, Cleveland’s skipper has a tendency to get the best and more out of their players, and that deserves the recognition they’ve received.
