The 2025-26 MLB offseason is officially in full swing and with it comes the rumor mill.
The Seattle Mariners made the first big splash of the offseason by signing first baseman Josh Naylor to a five-year, $92.5 million contract that will keep him with the team through 2030.
The deal with Naylor took care of the Mariners' biggest need, but the team still has several holes on the roster, including second base, third base and the bullpen.
Seattle already pulled off one reunion with one former player in Naylor and there's the potential for the Mariners to pull off another reunion.
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte has been floated around in trade rumors for months. He was with Seattle's organization from 2011-16, the last two of those years in the majors. The Mariners traded him to the Diamondbacks on Nov. 23, 2016.
In a recent threat posted to "X," Just Baseball Media posted a list of potential deals with various teams, including Seattle.
In the potential trade, Just Baseball has the Mariners ending second baseman Cole Young, starting pitching prospect Ryan Sloan and right-handed pitcher Emerson Hancock, who's seen time as both a reliever and starter in the majors, to Arizona in return for Marte.
Marte has become one of the best second basemen in the majors since he was first dealt by Seattle.
Since he was sent to the Diamondbacks, Marte has been named an All-Star twice, an All-MLB first-team players twice, has won two Silver Slugger awards and was named the 2023 National League Championship Series MVP.
Marte is under contract through 2030 with a player option through 2031. He's set to earn a salary of $16 million in '26, $12 million in '27, $20 million in '28 and $22 million in '29-30.
How do you feel about the Mariners potentially bringing Marte back to the Pacific Northwest and the proposed package to reacquire him?
