On Thursday night, the San Diego Padres kicked off a four-game series against the Colorado Rockies with a 2-0 win at Petco Park.
Jackson Merrill hit a solo home run and Luis Arraez had three hits with an RBI as the Padres rode six shutout innings from Randy Vasquez.
Arraez has been a hot topic among San Diego fans lately due to his subpar performance at the plate.
However, Arraez knows fans are frustrated, and the infielder spoke about that before Thursday's game.
"A lot of them are not happy with me but I'm human," Arraez said, via Marty Caswell of The Sporting Tribune. "They've got to understand I'm a human. I go there, I work hard every day and try to do my job. I know the fans, I know the fans. It's not my first year in the big league but I know a lot of fans are frustrated and they try to text us a lot of bad things, but it's ok. I'll take it, I'll take it. It's a lot of gasoline for me."
Well, Arraez answered the call on Thursday as he was in his usual spot at No. 2 in the lineup.
Arraez had three singles and drove in Freddy Fermin in the bottom of the third on a nice piece of hitting.
Arraez brought his batting average up to .285 on the season with seven home runs and 55 RBI.
In 2024, Arraez joined the Padres in an early-season trade with the Miami Marlins, and he hit .318 with 41 RBI in 117 games with San Diego in the regular season.
So, his average has dipped quite a bit in 2025, and he has already played 141 games this year.
Despite that, Arraez knows fans are frustrated, and the veteran is doing what he can to right the ship and get back into the hitter he was before.
Thursday night was a good sign for Arraez, and he will look to keep the momentum up as the Padres try and make a strong push to finish out the regular season and head into the postseason.
