The Philadelphia Phillies could pull off a significant trade for one particular All-Star outfielder this offseason.

The Philadelphia Phillies definitely have to go back to the drawing board just a bit this offseason, as they were just dealt yet another disappointing playoff exit.

The problem is that the Phillies have many of their own impending free agents they have to worry about, and it seems like president Dave Dombrowski aggravated Bryce Harper by saying that the two-time MVP is no longer elite.

Is it possible Philadelphia could reshape its roster this winter?

That remains to be seen, but Jim Bowden of The Athletic has linked the Phillies to a very intriguing player heading into the hot stove: Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran.

Bowden listed Duran among 10 stars most likely to be traded this offseason, and he thinks the Phillies would be interested. However, Bowden qualified his statement by saying it would take a "huge haul" for the Red Sox to move the former All-Star, noting that he is under team control through 2028.

Duran slashed .256/.332/.442 with 16 home runs and 84 RBI over 696 plate appearances this season, knocking 41 doubles and leading the American League with 13 triples.

It was actually kind of a down year for Duran in 2025, particularly compared to the campaign prior when he slashed .285/.342/.492 with 21 homers and 75 RBI across 735 trips to the dish. He led the majors in both doubles (48) and triples (14) in 2024, earning his first All-Star selection.

Duran is also a terrific defender. He registered an outstanding plus-23 DRS in 2024 and followed that up with a plus-9 DRS this year. Couple that with the fact that the 29-year-old can steal bases, and he is really a five-tool player (as his 6.8 WAR from 2024 suggests).

Philadelphia is definitely in need of an outfielder. Both Harrison Bader and Max Kepler are headed toward free agency, and it's looking more and more likely that Nick Castellanos has played his final game in the City of Brotherly Love.

The question is whether or not the Phillies would want to pay the cost needed to acquire Duran. Boston just made the playoffs, so it really has no reason to jettison Durant in the coming months unless it receives a massive offer.
