The Philadelphia Phillies could end up trading this player during the MLB offseason.

The Philadelphia Phillies don't have to overhaul their roster, but they should be looking to make some changes after yet another disappointing playoff exit.

While that may include making some big additions in free agency and via trade, they could also subtract some players.

Bleacher Report's Kerry Miller has named each MLB team's most likely trade candidate this winter, and for the Phillies, it was third baseman Alec Bohm.

"Were we asking which player the Phillies would most like to trade away, there's little question it's Nick Castellanos, who is going to make about twice as much as Bohm in 2026 and who has been worth a grand total of 1.3 bWAR through the first 80 percent of his five-year, $100 million contract," Miller wrote. "However, the name of the game here is most likely, and Bohm falls right into the three-pronged sweet spot of: pricy enough that the team would consider moving him, affordable enough that several teams would be interested and replaceable with players already on the roster."

Philadelphia is doing everything it can to unload Castellanos, but he is not exactly desirable considering he is slated to make $20 million in 2026 after posting a .694 OPS and playing terrible defense in right field.

Bohm, on the other hand, could be of interest to teams needing help at the hot corner.

It's not like Bohm is a stalwart himself, but he is at least four years younger than Castellanos, is considerably cheaper and managed a respectable .287/.331/.409 slash line in 2025.

Yes, the 29-year-old has been a vast disappointment since being selected by the Phillies with the third overall pick of the 2018 MLB Draft. He did make an All-Star team in 2024, but even then, he only registered a decent .779 OPS with 15 home runs and 97 RBI.

But at the very least, Bohm is a lifetime .279 hitter and has really only had one bad season at the plate, which came in 2021 when he slashed .247/.305/.342. Otherwise, Bohm has hit .280 or better in every season since entering the big leagues in 2020.

Bohm has just one year remaining on his contract, so whomever acquires him also wouldn't be financially obligated to him beyond 2026.

The Phillies floated Bohm in trade talks last offseason, but ultimately held on to him. Perhaps they will finally pull the trigger on moving him this time around.
