The 2025 postseason continues to be a dream come true for Tyler Glasnow.
The former Tampa Bay Rays ace delivered another strong outing on Thursday in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 3-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers, bringing them within one victory from returning to the World Series.
A week after pitching six shutout innings in a 2-1win over the Philadelphia Phillies that advanced the Dodgers to the National League Championship Series, Glasnow went 5.2 innings; striking out eight batters while allowing only three hits and one earned run against Milwaukee. To pitch in this moment is surreal for Glasnow, who is from Newhall, a neighborhood in Los Angeles.
“It's incredible,” Glasnow told MLB Network’s Abby Labar. “Just being from here, just being able to be on this team has always been a dream of mine. And then just to get together with the group of dudes that we have, it just feels amazing.”
“And we're close to closing it out. Let's keep playing good, and then we'll get it done.”
Glasnow’s gratitude stretches beyond being able to play for his hometown team in October’s biggest moments, as the 32-year-old is enjoying a healthy playoff run after being forced to watch from the dugout during the team’s journey to winning the World Series last season after he suffered a sprained elbow last September.
Prior to coming to Los Angeles in 2023, Glasnow also struggled with injuries during his time with the Rays, where he dealt with a partially torn UCL and flexor strain in June 2021, leading to Tommy John surgery that August. He also dealt with an oblique strain and forearm strain, gluing him to the injured list for a large chunk of his time in Tampa Bay.
Now, things are looking up for the 32-year-old. After logging a 4-3 record and a 3.19 ERA through 18 regular season starts, Glasnow is making the most of the postseason in his role, providing 18 strikeouts while allowing just one earned run through 13.1 innings of work.
“I think last year was tough,” Glasnow said following Thursday's victory. “I think when you're in that position, you just want to root for the team and just be there as much as you can. And it was nice to be a part of it.”
“But this year, for sure, just kind of being able to participate and just being able to contribute to the team has felt awesome.”
