Boston Red Sox pitcher Hunter Dobbins took to social media on Monday to provide a solid injury update at the outset of the Major League Baseball offseason.
Dobbins, who tore his right ACL in mid-July, says he's been cleared to start a full throwing program and is headed to Fort Myers (Fla.) for a week of full workouts.
Prior reporting indicated that Dobbins was expected to have a normal offseason, meaning he should be ready for spring training by the time it starts in February.
Dobbins was one of many contributors who helped the Red Sox get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2021 this past season. He made 11 starts (13 appearances), going 4-1 with a 4.13 ERA. He struck out 45 batters in 61.0 innings.
The 26-year-old Texas native was an eighth-round pick in 2021 out of Texas Tech. He delivered a memorable six shutout innings against the New York Yankees in a win on June 14, striking out five.
It's unclear what kind of role that Dobbins will be coming back to with the Red Sox, as they have one of the more fascinating offseasons in baseball in front of them.
The Sox have Garrett Crochet and Brayan Bello penciled into the 2026 starting rotation, but after that? It's up for grabs between a number of interesting names.
Lucas Giolito is now a free agent and could be back on a new multi-year deal. If not him, the Red Sox have been at least speculatively linked to free agent Dylan Cease and trade target Joe Ryan.
Youngsters Payton Tolle and Connelly Early certainly impressed in limited action in 2025 and could be options, as could Kutter Crawford, who will be back from injury after missing the entire season.
Richard Fitts and Cooper Criswell have also provided the Red Sox with positive innings during their times in Boston and could be options as well.

--Alex Bregman officially opted out of his contract and is a free agent
--Roman Anthony was named a finalist for the American League Rookie of the Year
--Garrett Crochet was named a finalist for the American League Cy Young
--Roger Clemens was put on the Contemporary Baseball Era ballot for the Hall of Fame, meaning he could finally hear his name get called to Cooperstown. He'll find out on Dec. 7
--Trevor Story has until Nov. 6 to decide if he's opting out of the remaining two years on his contract
