There has been too much discourse on the internet among White Sox fans regarding Chase Meidroth recently.

I'm as hyped about Sam Antonacci as anyone. And yes, the White Sox have a surplus of shortstops coming to the big leagues in the next few years.

But I think a lot of White Sox fans are forgetting that Meidroth was a 1.3 fWAR player as a rookie. He's really sound defensively, he's a good base runner, and his offensive profile should only continue to get better the more comfortable he gets at the MLB level.

Kind of crazy how over the course of this offseason, we've allowed Meidroth to go from "part of the core" to an afterthought. I think he could have a really good year this year. Will he ever be a superstar? No. And maybe sometime down the line, he'll transition to more of a platoon or bench role for the White Sox, but as of right now, we have no reason to believe he can't be a very good starter for many years to come.
