How one adjustment led to a much-needed victory for New York

Knicks Snap Three-Game Skid With Hot Shooting Night vs. Bulls

The New York Knicks are officially 3-3 on the season after picking up a crucial 128–116 win over the Chicago Bulls. On a night where the offense couldn’t miss, New York knocked down 20 three-pointers, snapping a three-game losing streak and remaining undefeated at Madison Square Garden.

Sunday night’s performance marked the first time this season the Knicks have made 20 threes, with their previous high being 18 against the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday. Jalen Brunson once again led the charge offensively, pouring in 31 points and five rebounds, including four made threes. Karl-Anthony Towns found his rhythm by going 2-for-2 from deep, while OG Anunoby chipped in with three more from beyond the arc.

But despite Brunson’s brilliance, the real MVPs of the night came off the bench. Jordan Clarkson and Josh Hart both had their best outings of the season, scoring in double figures while combining to shoot 4-for-10 from three. Landry Shamet stayed perfect from deep, going 3-for-3, and Miles McBride added another 2-for-4 from long distance.

    The Josh Hart Effect

Hart looked more like his old self — aggressive, energetic, and relentless. He finished with 14 points, nine rebounds, and three assists in 26 minutes, showcasing the hustle and downhill drives that made him a fan favorite last season. Knicks fans saw a spark that had been missing — and it came just when the team needed it most.

Last season, the Knicks made 20 or more threes in just six games, winning five of those. Their only loss came in a 121–116 battle with the Atlanta Hawks. Against Chicago, they knew another statement was needed after Thursday’s 125–135 loss on Halloween, when defensive breakdowns allowed Josh Giddey and Ayo Dosunmu to dominate. This time, the defense told a different story.

    Mitchell Robinson's Impact

Mitchell Robinson was sharp both on and off the ball, showing discipline on switches and resisting pump fakes. He recorded two of the team’s five blocks while grabbing five rebounds before exiting with an ankle injury after 13 minutes. He was available to return but wasn’t needed, as New York controlled the game.

Head coach Mike Brown continues to manage Robinson’s workload carefully, with plans to gradually increase his minutes as the season progresses. Robinson will likely sit out Monday night’s game against the Washington Wizards on the second night of a back-to-back.

Overall, the Knicks played much more in line with Brown’s system — pushing the pace, moving the ball, and matching Chicago’s energy on both ends. In a game that could mark a turning point in their early-season struggles, New York executed at every level.

They’ll now return home for a six-game homestand, hoping to keep their perfect record at MSG intact and build some much-needed momentum moving forward.
