Tristan da Silva's unexpected scoring surge and newfound confidence are key to the Magic's current winning streak, stepping up big when needed most.

The Orlando Magic are on a three-game winning streak after edging the Brooklyn Nets, with Franz Wagner leading the way as Paolo Banchero remains out. During this stretch, the Magic have seen Desmond Bane and the bench take a significant step forward. No player has shown more growth than Tristan da Silva.

In the 105-98 win over the Nets, da Silva scored 22 points and went 5-for-9 from three-point range. Coach Jamahl Mosley said the rising confidence is exactly what the team expected from him entering his second season.

“It’s just how we’ve asked him to play,” Mosley said post-game. “Coming from winning it over there with the German team this year, his level of confidence grew. That’s what we’ve asked him to do – not afraid of those big moments, not afraid to make plays. That’s what we’ll continue to need from him, the swagger that he plays with. We’re going to continue to need that from him.”

Da Silva showed significant growth over the summer while playing for Germany in EuroBasket, displaying poise and confidence in getting to his spots on the floor. Now in the starting lineup in place of the injured Banchero, his game continues to expand.

“Most of the time they were showing with the big, so that puts them in rotations off the bat,” da Silva said. “On the back side you kind of got to find pockets. Credit to my teammates for finding me and trusting me with those shots. I was just in the right position to knock them down, being shot-ready.”

“That’s part of the game I’m also working on that I’m trying to expand,” da Silva added. “I’ve shown a lot of my catch-and-shoot capabilities, but off the dribble is something that’s going to help this team even more – being able to create for myself and for others. I’m going to keep working on that. I feel like that’s going to develop over the next couple months and years.”

Wagner, now carrying the leadership role, wants Da Silva to stay aggressive even through mistakes as he searches for support in shouldering the scoring load.

“He’s playing great,” Wagner noted. “Super confident off the catch. I think we need him to be aggressive. Not always shoot the ball, but just be aggressive and play his game exactly like he did tonight. Sometimes deal with mistakes and play through them. You can see the potential, and he’s gotten a lot better already compared to his first year. Super happy for him.”
