It is no secret that every competitive team needs more than just one play-creating option on offense. Last season, that duty was largely entrusted to star point guard Cade Cunningham, but much of that burden could be attributed to Jaden Ivey's injury. Before breaking his leg, Ivey was well on his way to his most productive NBA season to date. Needless to say, losing Ivey for the rest of the year was a huge blow to the Pistons.
Of course, Ivey's development was partially halted due to his injury, but he was still able to stay locked in with the team and was reportedly engrossed in as many team activities as he could be. Still, it is never easy for a player to come back from such a serious injury.
Ivey averaged north of 17 points per game when healthy last season, so his scoring chops have effectively been proven at this point.
Personally, I see Ivey as a player who can bounce back quickly and as one who is anxious to regain his spot in Detroit's starting lineup. Ivey is young, hungry and ready to take that next step in his offensive contribution.
If Ivey does not reemerge as the Pistons' No. 2 scoring threat right off the bat, forward Tobias Harris could be the one to seize that role. Apart from that, power forward Ausar Thompson and center Jalen Duren are not necessarily expected to contribute to that level from a scoring perspective, but their potential ability to do so would help boost Detroit's efforts by leaps and bounds.
Who do you see taking the mantle as the Pistons' secondary scoring option in the 2025-26 NBA season?
