The Cleveland Cavaliers were the best team in the Eastern Conference a year ago, and they have every intention to grab that No. 1 seed again this year. But injuries — and far too many of them — have derailed their start two weeks into the season.

Key players Darius Garland, Max Strus and De'Andre Hunter have all missed time so far, and then Sam Merrill injured a hip in Monday night's win against Detroit.  They lost by 20 at Boston on Wednesday, falling to 3-2 on the season.

Cavs Roundtable writer Spencer German wrote about the series of injuries. Here's the link to his story.

Now it's gotten even worse. According to reports, Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen was injured in the Boston game, sustaining a broken finger on his left hand. He will be continued to be evaluated.

The 27-year-old Allen is in his sixth season with the Cavs. He started all 82 games a year ago, averaging 13.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. This year, he's posted 14.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.
