Two key Minnesota Timberwolves players remain in question against the Sacramento Kings

The Minnesota Timberwolves' one-game trip out to the Bay Area to face the Golden State Warriors was a successful one, spoiling the return of Steph Curry with a narrow 127-120 victory, as Minnesota held off a late comeback attempt to secure their 16th win of the season. They now head back to Minnesota to begin a five-game homestand before their Christmas Day matchup.

First up on the homestand will be the Sacramento Kings, a team the Timberwolves have become very familiar with early this NBA season. It will be the fourth and final matchup between the two sides this season, with the Kings having a chance of evening the series at 2-2 after pulling off an upset in the last contest.

    Timberwolves Injury Report

The injury report for the Timberwolves features three players listed as OUT on G-League assignment, with those being Joan Beringer, Enrique Freeman, and Rocco Zikarsky. Otherwise, only one other player is listed as OUT, with that being veteran point guard Mike Conley (Achilles).

With the Timberwolves already out a key reserve, that makes the statuses of Anthony Edwards (foot) and Bones Hyland (knee) as QUESTIONABLE all the bit more concerning.

Edwards was sidelined during the team's upset win against the Warriors, as the All-Star guard had seen a lull in his game in the prior two contests to his 40-point performance against the Phoenix Suns, as he combined for just 26 points in those two games.

As for Hyland, he looked as though he finally had his chance to break out with the Timberwolves in a prominent role, but exited Friday's matchup against the Warriors early with an injury, logging just five minutes.

If the Timberwolves end up having both Edwards and Hyland ruled out, or even if they play and aren't 100%, there's a strong chance both Terrence Shannon Jr. and Rob Dillingham see an uptick in play, as both performed well in the win at Golden State. With unfortunate injuries arising, it's chances like these where the two young guards can prove their worth to the franchise.

    Kings Injury Report

Outside of Isaiah Stevens and Daeqwon Plowden being OUT for being with the G League team, centers Drew Eubanks (thumb) and Domantas Sabonis (knee) have been ruled out as well.

In addition, Keon Ellis (wrist) is listed as QUESTIONABLE, with Dennis Schroder (hip) listed as DOUBTFUL.

The Kings enter Sunday's contest just 1-4 in their past five games, but seek a chance to even the series against a tough Timberwolves squad. Tip-off at the Target Center in Minnesota is set for 7:00 p.m. EST.
