Steph Curry's 28 points in the Golden State's win over the Phoenix Suns made NBA history

After a pair of disappointing losses to the Bucks and Pacers, the Golden State Warriors were granted two days off and a home contest against the Phoenix Suns. The Warriors came out hot and weathered a few storms from the Suns to win the front end of their third back-to-back of the early season, 118-107.

The Warriors shot 45.2% from three-point territory, knocking down 19 triples, and assisted on 33 of their 41 made field goals. With the victory, the Warriors remain undefeated at home and move to 6-3 on the season.

Curry Ascends the All-Time Field Goals Made List

Curry came into today tied with Gary Payton for 26th on the NBA's all-time made field goal list, with both of them having made 8,708 field goals in their careers.

Less than four minutes into Tuesday night's game, Curry took sole possession of 26th in the most Steph Curry way — a three-pointer.

Curry's nine made field goals on the night put him 299 behind Jerry West, who currently occupies No. 25 on the all-time list. Among active players, Curry clocks in at fifth behind LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and DeMar DeRozan.

Of course, Curry's marksmanship has already vaulted him to the top of the three-point field goals made leaderboard. He passed Ray Allen for No. 1 on that list in December 2021, and most recently surpassed the 4,000 mark for total threes back in March of this year.

    Warriors Post Excellent All-Around Outing

It was a complete team effort by the Warriors in a major bounce-back game after the previous two losses.

Curry's 28 points led the team in scoring for the third-straight game, but Moses Moody was not far behind. Moody poured in 24 points, including 5-8 shooting from downtown. After coming off the bench to start the game, Moody started the second half in place of Jimmy Butler, who only played 14 minutes due to a back issue.

The second team actually ended up being a major catalyst for this victory. With Moody, Brandin Podziemski, and Buddy Hield all finishing in double-figures, the bench outscored the starters, 63-55.

Though they had jumped out to a 25-point lead in the second quarter, the Warriors still had to survive a couple of punches thrown by the Suns. Led by Devin Booker and his 38-point performance that led all scorers, the Suns trimmed the lead to as little as seven points early in the fourth quarter, but the Warriors managed to keep them at bay.

Now back in the win column, the Warriors will look to do it again 24 hours later as they'll face off against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday night.
