Khris Middleton’s had his fair share of struggles in the clutch in a Wizards uniform.

With the Wizards trailing by as much as 16 in the third quarter, it felt like a night where they’d let the game get away from themselves.

Against his former team, Middleton changed the narrative.

Middleton put together a masterclass in the game’s final quarter, scoring 8 points in the game’s final 4 minutes, leading the Wizards to an improbable 129-126 win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

The win, Washington’s third, was sparked by phenomenal play off the bench, which culminated in the veterans sealing the deal.

Middleton finished 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Giannis Antetokounmpo wasted no time taking control, bullying his way to the rim on multiple occasions in the opening minutes.

Bilal Coulibaly, one of Washington's top young defenders, took the challenge early and matched up with Antetokounmpo. Coulibaly notched his 100th career block with an early denial.

Coulibaly finished with 3 steals and a block.

He kept Antetokounmpo frustrated most of the night. His aggressive approach on defense created visible frustration from the two-time MVP.

The third-year wing capped off the win with a one-handed fast-break slam after he plucked Antetokounmpo.

The Bucks caught fire from deep early. A pair from Myles Turner and some quick work in transition highlighted a five-of-six start from downtown.

Tristan Vukčević provided solid minutes off the bench for the Wizards in the first. With Alex Sarr out with an adductor strain, he got the backup center minutes. The seven-footer shot a perfect three for three from the field in the final five minutes of the first.

Washington trailed Milwaukee after the first, 34-28. The Bucks shot an unbelievable 75% from three in the quarter.

Vukčević continued to impact the game on both ends. A pair of steals led to easy buckets to help the Wizards get back within two early in the second. However, he picked up his third foul with nine minutes left in the first half.

Washington's started ice-cold from behind the arc, missing 11 of its first 12 looks.

Despite the Wizards' efforts to stay within reach in the first half, the team's struggles to defend the three continued. The Bucks made 11 of their 17 three point attempts in the first half, propelling them to a 66-58 halftime lead.

CJ McCollum's 10 points in the second quarter gave him 18 in the half, helping the Wizards keep pace.

The Bucks three-point outburst continued into the third. An 18-4 Milwaukee run helped it gain a sizable lead.

The three-pointers raining in were a result of poor defense from Washington, as it allowed wide open catch and shoot opportunities often.

Later in the third, Washington utilized a 12-2 run to get back within reach. Cam Whitmore punched home a pair of thunderous dunks, bringing the Wizards and Bucks tied late in the third.

A late three-pointer gave the Bucks a three-point lead entering the final quarter. Washington's bench production firmly kept it in the game.  All of Washington's reserves had positive plus-minus differentials after three.

The Wizards kept on fighting into the fourth. Whitmore, Vukčević and Justin Champagnie, each played a major role in the Wizards keeping pace, who shot well from three all night.

Whitmore finished with 17 off the bench for Washington. He was a massive contributor in Washington’s third-quarter run to remain within striking distance.

Marvin Bagley III, who typically comes off the bench for Sarr, filled in as the starter phenomenally.  Bagley put together 22 points, 9 rebounds, on an efficient 11/16 from the field.

A McCollum jumper gave Washington its first lead since the 11:40 mark in the first quarter with five minutes to play.

Middleton kept the foot on the gas, burying a game-tying triple with 3:52 to play.

Antetokounmpo punched back with an and-one and alley-oop slam, padding the Bucks' lead to five with just over two minutes to play.

Middleton wasn't finished. The 34-year-old veteran  provided a clutch and-one bucket and gave the Wizards the lead with 52 seconds left.

Middleton’s run of three-straight field goals made propelled the Wizards to the finish line.

Washington wins its second game in a row on its home floor, and they’ll be back in action tomorrow in Philadelphia at 7:00 p.m..
