On the heels of pure domination in Week 2, the Alabama Crimson Tide may be getting some reinforcements.

Head coach, Kalen DeBoer spoke during the SEC Coaches Teleconference on Wednesday that three key players are either inching closer to returning to the field, or are already there.

“Jah-Marien Latham and Jam Miller and TK (Tim Keenan) are all going to be game-time decisions," DeBoer said. “They’re getting their work in, making some progress, not much difference between all three of them, even though they are different injuries.”

On top of that, DeBoer also confirmed that superstar wide receiver, Ryan Williams will return to the field after suffering a concussion at Florida State.

Latham is in his sixth year with the Tide and was pulled out of Week 1’s game against Florida State with a lower body injury. Initial reports were that Latham was doing a lot better leading up to the Week 2 game against UL Monroe, but was ultimately held out.

With another week of recovery and preparation, Latham may seem most likely to get the thumbs up.

Getting him back on the field will be crucial for the Tide. Prior to the season starting, Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack leaned on him heavily to be the Tide’s defensive Swiss Army Knife.

"(Latham) can do a lot of things for us," Wommack said. "He can play multiple positions for us. In fact, we've got him playing, gosh, I mean, three, four positions on the defense, which is really impressive."

The two question marks are regarding Miller and Keenan.

Miller, the team’s senior running back suffered a dislocated collarbone just a week before Week 1 and it was revealed that while he will miss time, it’s expected for him to return for conference play.

It’s possible that Miller can run a few packages without him being a total thumper, because you don’t want to run the risk of moving two steps back to move one step forward.

After the Wisconsin week, Alabama has a bye in preparation for conference play if the team wants to play it safe with their lead running back.

For Keenan, it’s a little similar, but him returning for Wisconsin may pose an even bigger risk than Miller.

Keenan underwent tightrope surgery just days before Week 1’s game, and while tightrope surgery’s recovery time is at worst a full month, playing him this Saturday will be a major risk.

As shown in the UL Monroe game, Keenan is the heartbeat of Alabama’s defense, assuming a leadership role to the players, and even the coaches. Risking losing your top defender has a chance to be detrimental to a season.

Regardless if Keenan and Miller both miss Week 3, it’s a positive step to be taken for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama vs. Wisconsin kicks off at 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. CT on ABC.
