The No. 22 Auburn Tigers have made it to SEC play unscathed, but will they will have their biggest challenge of the season so far waiting for them when they arrive in Norman, Oklahoma on Friday.

The Tigers will be taking on the No. 11 Oklahoma Sooners in their SEC play opener, and will be responsible for slowing down quarterback John Mateer.

Mateer has gone 71-of-105 on passing attempts to start the season, also having five touchdowns and three interceptions on his sheet. Auburn linebacker Robert Woodyard Jr. knows the Tigers will be in for a challenge.

"He's a very talented guy," Woodyard said of Mateer. "You just got to be disciplined at just doing what we do best, dominating the line of scrimmage and we just got to -- 11 hats to the ball. We do all the little things right, we'll come out victorious."

While Auburn already has a true road test under its belt this season, picking up a victory over the Baylor Bears to start the year, it has not made its way into an SEC environment yet.

Woodyard is ready to lead the charge into a hostile environment and do everything possible to help the Tigers come out on top.

"I feel great going into that atmosphere, to Oklahoma," Woodyard said. "I know I'm gonna be well prepared going in there, and I know the team will be well prepared to put up a good game going forward."

Auburn took on Oklahoma at home inside Jordan-Hare Stadium last season, but that matchup did not end favorably for the Tigers. Woodyard is excited to have another opportunity to take on the Sooners.

"Biggest lesson we took away from that game really was the quarterback runs was big in that game, and I feel like that's what -- Oklahoma, they run the offense through their quarterback, and I feel like that'll be a big key for them," Woodyard said.

Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT and ABC will carry the broadcast.
